Her eyes are wide open. Her lips parted as if to speak. Her dead body frozen in the ice…She is not the only one.
When a young boy discovers the body of a woman beneath a thick sheet of ice in a South London park, Detective Erika Foster is called in to lead the murder investigation.
The victim, a beautiful young socialite, appeared to have the perfect life. Yet when Erika begins to dig deeper, she starts to connect the dots between the murder and the killings of three prostitutes, all found strangled, hands bound and dumped in water around London.
What dark secrets is the girl in the ice hiding?
As Erika inches closer to uncovering the truth, the killer is closing in on Erika.
The last investigation Erika led went badly wrong… resulting in the death of her husband. With her career hanging by a thread, Erika must now battle her own personal demons as well as a killer more deadly than any she’s faced before. But will she get to him before he strikes again?
When the Girl in the Ice thriller was announced for the first time, I didn’t notice it. Later on, I kept seeing reviews for the book. Its 5stars reviews were rising by the minute. Honestly, I was intrigued to read the book and see what all that hype was about.
One of the best tools Robert Bryndza uses is the very suspenseful introductions. A girl is running in the middle of the night. A mysterious car stops by her. The girl is abducted.
DCI Erika Foster is a very active and keen detective. However, her career is on the hinge. The last investigation she was leading went terribly wrong and she lost her husband and her team. Haunted by this tragic event, she couldn’t pursue her work for a while. Now she’s back, and it’s up to her to prove that she’s up to it and fight her demons. The body of a young woman is found in the ice and the case is assigned to DCI Erika foster.
Erika throws herself into this case. She knocks all the doors and follows all the leads. The girl is the daughter of a very influential politician. Though Erika is a very professional and keen detective, she doesn’t master the political way of doing her job and this puts her into a lot of trouble with the victim’s family and also with her bosses.
As Erika goes through this investigation, she discovered a much entangled web of suspects. Meanwhile, the killer follows the steps of Erika so closely keeping her within reach. Can Erika reach the truth through all this mess? This is what we get to know in this very suspenseful crime thriller.
The Girl in the Ice was more than wonderful. To start with, Robert Bryndza proved to be a very talented thriller author. The way each chapter ended seeping into the next one was amazing. One of the spectacular things was introducing us to the thoughts of the killer. We could see and hear the killer behind Erika. It was also a very fast paced page turner. To say it in one word, this book was amazing.
Finally, this is the first book in a very promising series. If you are a mysteries and thrillers reader who loves to read suspenseful gripping mysteries, I highly recommend this book for you.
