In this powerful and uplifting novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber, a mother and her daughter-in-law bravely leave their troubled marriages and face the challenge of starting over. Leaning on each other, Nichole and Leanne discover that their inner strength and capacity for love are greater than they ever imagined.
When Nichole discovers that her husband, Jake, has been unfaithful, the illusion of her perfect life is indelibly shattered. While juggling her young son, a new job, and volunteer work, Nichole meets Rocco, who is the opposite of Jake in nearly every way. Though blunt-spoken and rough around the edges, Rocco proves to be a dedicated father and thoughtful friend. But just as their relationship begins to blossom, Jake wagers everything on winning Nichole back—including their son Owen’s happiness. Somehow, Nichole must find the courage to defy her fears and follow her heart, with far-reaching consequences for them all.
Leanne has quietly ignored her husband’s cheating for decades, but is jolted into action by the echo of Nichole’s all-too-familiar crisis. While volunteering as a teacher of English as a second language, Leanne meets Nikolai, a charming, talented baker from Ukraine. Resolved to avoid the heartache and complications of romantic entanglements, Leanne nonetheless finds it difficult to resist Nikolai’s effusive overtures—until an unexpected tragedy tests the very fabric of her commitments.
An inspiring novel of friendship, reinvention, and hope, A Girl’s Guide to Moving On affirms the ability of every woman to forge a new path, believe in love, and fearlessly find happiness.

A Girl’s Guide to Moving On is one of the most interesting romantic novels. It’s my first read for Debbie Macomber and hopefully not the last as I plan to read more of her books.
In A Girl’s Guide to Moving On, Nichole and her mother in law Leanne are devastated by their husbands’ infidelities. Nichole is a much stronger person than her mother in law Leanne. Leanne has been aware that her husband was cheating on her during their whole marriage but preferred to ignore this truth for the sake of her family. On the contrary, once Nichole knows her husband is cheating on her she puts herself together and decides to leave him. Nichole and Leanne have always been so close. Leanne decides it’s time to leave her husband too. Both ladies lean on each other and try to move on with their lives as single ladies leaving their exes behind. Together they have written a guide to remind themselves of the things they should do to be able to move on. To their luck, each one of them can find her way to happiness. However, their exes seem not to accept this.
A Girl’s Guide to Moving On was a very relaxing and enjoyable read. It just kept me happy. I have caught myself several times smiling while reading it. I guess I looked funny then. It was a very relaxing break in the middle of the list of thrillers I am reading. I felt I was watching a good movie. I could even see Robert De Niro as Nicholai and Meryl Streep as Leanne.
The story was nice and soothing. The narration alternated between Nichole and Leanne in a very nice way. The characters were well developed. It felt like sitting with close friends while they told you their deepest thoughts and emotions.
However, if I was to comment on something it will be the Mrs. Perfect tone throughout the book. Both heroine characters were crafted as perfect ladies who were too good to be true. Well, while that was not so realistic, it didn’t annoy me much.
Finally, if you are seeking a literary fiction book with a nice romantic touch, you will enjoy this book.
